FSC certification

The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) is an international organization that has created a system for conformity of the environmental and social responsibility of forest management. This international certification standard is used at enterprises of the forestry and woodworking industry. The FSC certificate is issued by an independent auditor on the basis of a strict annual inspection at the logging site.

Today, more than 211 million hectares of forests have been certified in 82 countries worldwide, and about 54 million hectares of forests have been certified in Russia.

The FSC's stated mission is to "promote environmentally appropriate, socially beneficial and economically viable management of the world's forests". The principles include:

1. Compliance with local and international legislation.
2. Support and strengthening of the material and social well-being of employees.
3. Building mutually beneficial relationships with the local community.
4. Planning activities within the framework of ensuring long-term economic viability.
5. Support and restoration of natural resources and minimization of negative impact on them. Commitment to environmental values.

Directly or indirectly, FSC addresses issues such as illegal logging, deforestation and global warming.

There are 3 types of FSC certification:

1. FSC Forest management (FM) - confirms that the forest management system on a particular forestry complies with the principles of the standard.
2. FSC Chain of custody (CoC) - confirms that wood manufactured in accordance with the principles of the standard is used at all stages of production and transportation of goods to the consumer.
3. FSC Controlled wood (CW) - confirms that the organization uses wood exclusively from responsible and certified sources.

They can be applied both together and separately.

Our company Plyterra Group has an FSC certificate and marks plywood with a conformity mark because we care about the conservation of forest resources and bear environmental and social responsibility to humanity.
